Nazca to Cuzco

This was absolutely the most miserable trip on a Cruz del Sur bus. The bus was somewhat late arriving at Nasca, no big deal, but then it started. While they ask you to fill in what dinner you want, all you get is a ham and cheese sandwich. Fine, but it didn't end there. The bus broke down and by the time we arrived at Cuzco, 22 interminable hours had passed. And no one got off that bus. I finally made a break for it, when the bus stopped at a small town a couple of hours outside of Cuzco and rushed, over the objections of the assistant/attendant to a local terminal to use the toilet there and stretch my legs. Of course, a great terminal in Cuzco, as seems to be the rule with this company. I will avoid them at all costs in future, should I return to Peru.

The climb into the Andes from Nazca, what I saw of it the next morning, was truly beautiful to behold.

Other buses from different companies were going the same way.

We passed through the usual small towns, always backdropped by those massive, often snow capped, mountains.

There was a high pass to cross before we descended toward Cuzco.

So lovely, to me at least, I can't really say much else (and think of this, all shot from a moving bus)

Shortly after this, we got to the small town terminal where I made my break and then continued toward the outskirts of Cuzco, with the station still a long way away. A ride from hell.
